Cost Accountant Needed at an Airline Service

Job Title: Cost Accountant
Job description
  • Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Interacting with Production Planning (PPL) to ensure specifications / grids are accurate and up to date
  • Analyzing actual labour, material and overhead cost against standard / budget.
  • Researching and explaining variances and reporting as needed
  • Working with Finance department to implement and apply costing policies and procedures as derived
  • Developing new labour and overhead rates, budget and forecasts timely
  • Analyzing data collected and recording results
  • Analyzing changes in product specifications, raw materials,  or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
  • Capturing costs of new and proposed products
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Maintaining Costing model
  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  • Support Preparing profitability report by Airline
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Accounting Graduate
  • A professional qualification from a recognised Accounting Body would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar role
  • Technical knowledge of Food Production processes is essential; particularly related to airline and off-shore catering
  • Must have a strong Cost systems background, excellent analytical skills, sound  understanding of accounting principles with commercial experience (able to make pricing recommendation)
  • Computer Literate – Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
  • Experience working with production personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual report
